Stepping into the ice-cold Gerling & Associates Built Outside Broadcast Truck, hearing cheers from fans intercut with Commentator Patrick Anderson “Snappy Right…ohhhhh good jab by Lewis” intercut with “Standby Camera 4, Three…Steady…” yup we are live. Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to our world, as Patrick would say…“What an anti-climax…it was shaping up to be a dandy, the crowd is not happy…”
…”it’s a bruiser…blood curdling” To the outside world, one might think, how do you guys listen to so many things at once.
Its not that bad. Live TV boils down to communication. You need to always be able to communicate both in and outside of the Truck ; with Prompter, CG Operator, Host, DJ, Commentator, Replays and more. Osmond Fennel our Audio Engineer says “Boxing is really fun, but you have to be fast…you have to be fast to get the queues”
Sitting in the row behind TV Director Delano Forbes, its all giggles intercut with “Camera 4, I’m on you…Excellent Close Up” accompanied with “…Lewis is counter punching and the fans are on their feet!” After careful observation its obvious they do enjoy what they do. Delano Forbes tells us how he loves filming boxing “I like the handheld shots, it allows viewers at home to see shots that they wouldn’t…Handheld lends itself to a kinetic style that free flows with the boxers.”
The truck is now buzzing, the crew and the crowd awaits Referee decision if the match will continue as Glenroy “Bumpy” Beckford receives a cut just above his eye.
